We can use echolocation like bats, dolphins, and whales. It allows humans to detect objects by creating different sounds and then sensing echoes. Unlike other animals, humans have this ability undeveloped from birth. Anyway, many blind people have figured out how to use echolocation to 'see' with their ears. They usually make clicking sounds with their mouth.

The special area of the brain called amygdala is responsible for the response and memory of emotions, especially fear. In near-death situations and during critical moments, amygdala starts working more actively. It creates the feeling of moving in slow motion, which allows us to analyze more information and make the right decisions to stay alive.

An ability to read emotions is a unique super power every human being possesses. Empathy is an inborn ability, which helps us not only to understand feelings, but also to share and experience the emotions of other sentient beings. Empathy helps us to deal with a lot of difficult moments and recognize dangerous people even if they seem kind.

In our brain, there are several locations that receive the messages about pain. As it turns out, the human brain is equipped with the capability of altering sensitivity to painful stimuli. Disengagement from pain can also help us survive in dangerous situations, for example, when we need to escape or fight in the presence of body injury.

A mother can transfer her immunity to her child. During the last 3 months of pregnancy, unborn babies are given antibodies through the placenta. They don't create their own immunity but carry their mother's one instead. After birth, babies who are breastfed also have passive immunity for 6 months.

I don't agree with your assessment of empathy being unique to human beings. I have had both a cat and a dog who were very tuned in to the way I feel. I had one cat who never left my side all the while I was going thru chemotherapy. And another who was very affectionate during the time of my daughter's illness and death.

Not to mention the inner strength we all have a spinal infection has left me disabled after a year and a half I am able to stand and take a few steps even though the docs said I wouldn't be able to

Janice Bishop-Magoon, I agree! I have 9 rescue cats and every one of them have shown empathy to both me and my husband! In different ways, of course. But you sure recognize it when you get it!!!

Janice Bishop-Magoon, I completely agree with you. I have 4 cats, whenever I'm unwell they sit around me, all facing me, taking turns to go out for food, water or toilet. Im pleased you had your cat to comfort you while you were going through chemotherapy and hope you're now much better. Wishing you the very best of health for now and in the future xxx
