If you treat film industry as a mere entertainment, let us change your mind. Sometimes a role requires unbelievable sacrifices from an actor. Let's learn how far a person can go to get into character!
Here are the most vivid examples for you!
1. Christian Bale lost 62 pounds to play role in the film called "The Machinist".
In the film, he weighs 120 pounds. He wanted to lose more, but the filmmakers didn't let him. At the end of the filming, he had only six months to regain the mass to be ready for his role in "Batman Begins". He ate lots of pizza and ice-cream for this purpose.
2. Adrien Brody starved to get into the character in "The Pianist".
In this regard, he had to put aside his car, his apartment and communications with siblings aside. However it was not enough - Adrien decided to stop eating. This experiment led him to despair that he successfully transferred into his persona. Subsequently, it took Adrien half of a year to return to the normal life.

3. Robert De Niro worked as a taxi driver to get ready for the role in "Taxi driver", 1976.
While preparing for the role, Robert De Niro got his taxi driver licence. He managed to fly from Rome to New York to drive during the breaks between filming.
4. Shelley Duvall had natural emotional exhaustion for her role in "The Shining".
The director of the film "The Shining", Stanley Kubrick, always required natural emotions from his actors. Sometimes the methods of getting them were quite unsafe. Shelley Duvall used to cry for 12 hours, bear intentional disrespect from her film crew and endless reproaches to have natural nervous exhaustion. As a result, Shelley had to "recover" after filming by drinking alcohol.
5. Robert William Hoskins had to visit a psychiatrist after his role in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", 1988.
Disney characters were painted after the shooting. Thus, Robert had to imagine animation characters for 8 months of filming. He later confessed that those characters hunted him for some time after the movie was ready.
6. Rooney Mara had to change her appearance greatly for her role in "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo".
In order to impersonate a freak, Rooney Mara had to shave half of her hair and get her eyebrows, nose and lip pierced. What a brave girl!
What do you think about filming? Do you think that actors should sacrifice themselves for the sake of art? Comment upon this article and share it with your friends!
Sally Moritz... It's actually "The Last of the Mohicans", not Mohegens...Just so ya know! One of my favourite Daniel Day-Lewis movies 🎥 🙂
DUSTIN HOFFMAN PUT PEBBLES INTO HIS SHOES TO WALK LIKE RATSO IN "MIDNIGHT COWBOY". HE TOLD THIS TO THE GREAT LAURENCE oLIVIER WHO SHOWED PROPER INTEREST AND THEN ASKED HIM: "BUT, MY BOY, WHY DIDNT YOU TRY ACTING?
Amazing these actors have to go through- it’s professionalism! Movie is like an art, actors are creative and yet it’s a sacrifice to do it for the sake of art. And the big bucks come later. If they’re not emotionally strong they end up on drugs, sex addict and alcoholism.
All of this "method" stuff!! Dustin Hoffman ran a marathon to "get into character" for a scene in the "Marathon man" movie. Olivier was quite fight when he suggested to Hoffman that "acting is much easier, you should try it old boy"!! .. 😕
Daniel Day Lewis, has in all movie parts he’s played, become the person he’s playing and remains in character for the duration of filming , even when off set, probably the greatest character actor ever!
If I were a multi-millionaire, I would stick with the money I've got. I find it hard just to lose 30 kilos to fit into my clothes. It shows that if you want something enough, you can do what it takes to get it (within legal reason, I mean).
Is it worth it? You see my husband and me in makeup going to a party for children. We did it for‘them’ but it took me about 15 min and maybe that long watching a you tube video to be able to apply said make up. We did not have to become these ppl for any length of time. Did not get paid anything. We did it for children and for fun. Hollywood glamor is temporary and certainly not worth the ultimate price. Give me Jesus.
It's hard to believe that actors and actresses would put themselves through such humiliation and physical danger to obtain a role. Film making looks to be a heartless industry only interested in making money and winning awards.
The Oscars have been around for over 90 years. Throughout its history many actors have walked the red carpet in some of the most lovely, bizarre, and unforgettable looks. It was difficult to narrow it down to just couple of looks but I choose based on the look’s memorability, influence, and timelessness.
In this post, we'll be showing you instances where favorite actors were forced to learn a new skill in order to perform iconic roles – some of these are absolutely unbelievable!
